Ratios of to Question 14 and 20

Post  Guest24 on Mon Oct 20, 2008 9:52 pm

For 14 you must take from question 13:
Momentum after-momentum before/ sqrt(Deltapprime^2+Deltap^2)

The same thing for question 20

For question one we must select the correct statements in the bunch
-The velocity of the incident object after the collision = 0 when the two masses are equal
-The incident object continues in the same direction when the incident mass is bigger than the tartget mass
- The velocity of the target object after the collision equals the incident velocity when the two masses are equal.

For v(i) prime you would just take the width of whichever velocity you are finding(either big mass or small mass) and divide this by your t(i) prime.

Does anyone know the syntax for question 31?
My numbers are coming out correct but I cannot write it out with the syntax?

for number 5 the error for time is negligible so deltav(i)/v(i)= deltaw/w. Your delta is .002 which was stated in the manual and the w depends on whether it is the small or big glider.

Question 14

Post  Guest24 on Mon Oct 20, 2008 11:29 pm

I believe it is dependent on your answers to question 13 so for me for example
My total momentum before=.09709
My total momentum after=.098646
My error deltap before=.0039
My error deltapprime after=-.0008

So i for my numerator I have .098646-.09709=.001556
For my denominator I have sqrt(.0039^2+-.0008^2)=.0039812058

So numerator over denominator I have an answer of .3908 which was accepted by Mapleta
My only suggestion is make sure you have your TOTAL momentum and not just one value you must sum up the two momenta after.
Good luck.

Is anyone else having trouble getting Maple TA to load? I hope it is fixed early today, I never graded myself, just Quit & Saved and don't wanna lose all my data.

For question 31

Post  Guest24 on Tue Oct 21, 2008 11:25 am

The question says to refer to the previous question which is Lab 5 Part 1 Relative Error of your velocity. Take your answer from that question multiply that question by 2 and then multiply by your KE it should look like this:
2*Deltaw/w*.5*m*v^2
