I got number 3!!

Post  vdot on Tue Feb 10, 2009 11:09 am

oh hot dayum!!

Okay. So for number three, just count the boxes literally and multiply by what your scale is.

For example. My scale was .5V and 1s. I counted my height of boxes (which I estimated) to be about 2.75V and multiplied by .5 and then for 1.375. Then I count my width which was 1 box, and got 1 for the time.

My guess for the units where correct the first time around.
Voltage in V and time in s. They wont mark it correct unless the whole answer is correct.

YAY!! Now I'm off to solve number 5. I'll keep ya'll posted!!

Number 5

Post  vdot on Tue Feb 10, 2009 11:30 am

So the first two answers are easy...

All you do once again is count boxes. 3 boxes would equal an amplitude of 3V and 6 boxes, 6V...

But the period is what I'm suck on. Arghhh!, I was so close.
Previous posts say to do T2-T1/# of waves... but its not working for me. Or at least I cant figure out the number of waves. My wave is V-shaped.

So I thought Id be 6-3 = 3
and then 3/1= 3s
But thats not working.

Please help

Also, isn't s the unit for period?

error of Period T

Post  :) on Tue Feb 10, 2009 12:16 pm

hey guys, i know that someone mentioned getting the error of frequency but it also required knowing how to get the error of T, the Period

please help on this one Smile

i can't seem to get it, i'm not sure what values to be using for expression 8.. why does it matter if n = -1 if the expression calls for the absolute value, and why is this formula given when there is no exponent involved, ect. o.o

thank you Very Happy

so for question 5 on the lab in order to find the period....number ur horizontal line with the intervals...my increments were in 50s...so the second peak was at 400 and the 1st peak was at 100...400-100=300

300*1E-6=3E-4s

hope this helps!! =)

Re: lab 2 help

to find the period, count up the number of intervals (each interval is one box), I had six boxes. Each box is 50 micro seconds. You multiply the number of boxes by 50, then multiply that number by 10^-6 to convert to seconds.

I had 6 boxes, so that equals 300 microseconds. Then 300 x 10^-6 = 3E-4. Hope that helps.

errors

Post  helpingg on Thu Feb 12, 2009 12:28 am

Error of T2-T1 is just sqrt ((T1)^2+(T2)^2)
Error of period is (error of T2-T1)/(# wavelengths)
Error of frequency is (error of period / period) * frequency

Keep in mind guys, there is a box on the far right of the second table that asks for the # of wavelengths. Don't forget to fill this in, otherwise it will mark some of your answers as being wrong even when they arent.

half these errors were already provided...try looking back at them before posting the same questions a million times

Hey

I am getting this weird problem, when I plug my values in Excel they don't seem to be right
on the sqare graph, my lowest point is 0V and it goes to 2V the highest, but "2V" doesn't turn green ??

do u guys have 0V as u lowest point and what is your highest voltage, just so I can see what I am doing wrong !

thanx a lot

but V_2 shows it wrong
I don't know why !

what did u guys get, ur V_1 should be 0 right?
