Error of x

Post  lalala on Fri Apr 24, 2009 12:28 am

error of x is is sqrt((DeltaX^2 + DeltaX^2), since X is the twice the distance from the position to the middle.

we just simply put (sqrt(0.003^2+0.003^2)), assuming both errors are 0.003m

wavelength

Post  lalala on Fri Apr 24, 2009 12:35 am

wavelength = 1/(Rh*((1/2^2)-(1/n^2)))
Rh is constant given in the instruction, 1.097E7

DeltaX

Post  yeyy on Fri Apr 24, 2009 4:55 pm

for Delta X, we assume that each error is .003, when i enter in .004 (get that from sqrt(.oo3^2 + .003^2)) its marking me wrong. Does anyone know what i'm doing wrong? each error in X for the red, blue, purple is .003 right?

for Delta X

Post  lalala on Sat Apr 25, 2009 12:09 am

sqrt(0.003^2+0.003^2)

is 0.004243. Try to keep as many as digits possible.

It should work fine.

DELTA X??

Post  phygirl. on Sun Apr 26, 2009 4:30 pm

OKAY. I AM SOOOOO SORRY, I SWEAR I REALLY AM, I KNOW THERE HAVE BEEN NUMEROUS POSTS ABOUT THIS, BUT HONESTLY ITS NOT WORKING FOR ME AT ALL. I DID A COMBINATION OF THINGS, I WORKED OUT EQUATIONS, I PLUGGED IN, I DARN RIGHT EVEN DID A DANCE TO TRY TO GET THIS BUT ITS NOT WORKING.

I REALLY NEED HELP WITH THE ERROR OF X, IF I DONT GET THAT VALUE, I CANNOT MOVE ON TO GET THE OTHER ERROR VALUES.

I'VE BEEN USING .003m FOR MY ERROR, AND I USED THE ABOVE EQUATION sqrt((.003)^2+(.003)^2) to get .004243 etc... BUT WHEN I PLUG THAT INTO THE EXCEL ITS NOT WORKING. I PLUGGED IN .004, THEN I JUST PLUGGED IN THE WHOLE VALUE, THEN I JUST KEPT TRYING VARIATIONS, BUT NOTHING HAS WORKED. IT REALLY DOESNT MATTER HOW MANY DIGITS I PUT IN, BECAUSE WHEN I PUT IN THE WHOLE THING, IT DOESNT TURN GREEN. UGH.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TAKE THE TIME OUT FROM THIS GORGEOUS DAY TO HELP ME OUT. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT. THANKS.
