Lab 9 Execution

Post  :) on Tue Apr 21, 2009 12:25 pm

Let's get the ball rolling please Very Happy

How are you guys getting the wavelength (m)?
- i tried 1/ {(1/2^2)-(1/n^2)}

with the value of (1/2^2)-(1/n^2) i thought that was (1/wavelength) which i tried entering into the appropriate column but only one lights up o.o

any ideas on this? my values of m won't light up either, did you guys account for a distance difference?

thanks Smile

Wavelength

d*sin(theta)= m(wavelength). but my answers arent coming out correct. can someone explain in better detail how to get the wavelength?

wavelength

(1.8955E-6)*sin(your angle)=wavelength (m=1)

0.0254/13400=1.895E-6

error of slope

does anyone know how to solve for error of slope besides just putting in random numbers. Is there a calculated value i can use?

x

Post  guest000 on Tue Apr 21, 2009 5:32 pm

On excel, it asks for positions, which me and my partner have changed the numbers, meaning we subtracted the distance from the distance where the gas tube was to have the position, those numbers i used for the first table positions, but then wat do we put in for x the table below??

For x, or the positions of the different colors, just take the difference between your right position and left position and put it into meters.

anyone know how to find relative error in x/2y or error in 1/lambda? thanks

Error in slope

Post  yeppp on Tue Apr 21, 2009 5:57 pm

To find the error in the slope, you take the calculated relative error of x/2y and multiply it by your calculated 1/lamdba

For degrees, you do tan-1 of your x/2y value

Error of Slope!

Post  k8 on Wed Apr 22, 2009 11:45 am

hey the slope is the exact # given on the graph after it it plotted. but, i was wondering how to get error of slope. or if we just make up a number how do we do that? thankss!
