Lab 8 Execution Empty error in f

Post  super mo Wed Apr 15, 2009 1:10 pm

sqrt((deltao/o)^2+(deltai/i)^2)*your value for f
to get the other errors follow the same idea

I can't get delta f for the life of me! help!

sqrt((0.025/.316)^2+(0.025/0.066)^2)*0.05459 = 0.002112
if it is not being marked as correct try using 0.002 as per lab manual for the error and try the calculatoin again.

Post  error of Thu Apr 16, 2009 11:11 pm

I couldn't get the error of f, i tried the equation above and the one on prelab. please help

error of o, i = 0.0025
o = 0.072
i = 0.228
f = 0.05472

the delta f i got is 0.00199, but it wouldn't turn green. and is the focal length calculated consistent to the 5cm?

Thanks

Lab 8 Execution Empty Error or F

Post  PHygirl Sun Apr 19, 2009 12:12 pm

I know there are posted solutions for the error of f, but for some reason my value is not working!!

o: .061
i: .239
error: .002

f: .0485

and I keep coming out with .00164 as the error but its not working. Sad this is driving me crazzzzyyy, is there an error with the excel sheet or something, or is everyone getting it fine?

Lab 8 Execution Empty Re: error of f

Post  _guest Sun Apr 19, 2009 2:00 pm

Use the error of (1/f) in the prelab and multiply that by f^2
error of f = sqrt(((.002/.061)*(1/.061))^2+((.002/.239)*(1/.239))^2)*.0485^2
error of f = .001267

Lab 8 Execution Empty re: errors of the magnification

Post  _guest Sun Apr 19, 2009 11:45 pm

error =SQRT((deltah_o/h_o)^2+(deltah_i/h_i)^2)*magnification calculated
make sure you put your error in as a positive value

what do you have to put in the question where they ask you to say if your number is consistent or not? I'm using yes, no, consistent, etc, and they're all not working. help would be appreciated.
