Re: Lab 8 Execution
I have a question
for Deltao/o
is deltao same value as h_o
if not is deltao the error .002 ??

Re: Lab 8 Execution
i put 0.002 as the error for both ho and o.
does anyone know how to get the delta of f?

error
anybody know how to get error of f? Tried the prelab formula and the prelab formula x f^2. Nothing works!
guestman- Guest
error in f
sqrt((deltao/o)^2+(deltai/i)^2)*your value for f
to get the other errors follow the same idea

I can't get delta f for the life of me! help!
o [m] i [m]
0.316 0.066
0.0025 0.0025
F = 0.05459
thanks!

sqrt((0.025/.316)^2+(0.025/0.066)^2)*0.05459 = 0.002112
if it is not being marked as correct try using 0.002 as per lab manual for the error and try the calculatoin again.

I just saw that I posted 0.025 I did in fact plug 0.0025 into the calculator. Sorry for the confusion.

Re: Lab 8 Execution
can anyone tell me what they are putting for "is the about vaule for f consistent with the nominal vaule of 5cm?" and also how to find magnification and errors? thanks

Re: Lab 8 Execution
I couldn't get the error of f, i tried the equation above and the one on prelab. please help
error of o, i = 0.0025
o = 0.072
i = 0.228
f = 0.05472
the delta f i got is 0.00199, but it wouldn't turn green. and is the focal length calculated consistent to the 5cm?
Thanks

for the excel sheet, what # ur guys get for object xize h0 and image size hi? i have trouble on it
question- Guest
Error or F
I know there are posted solutions for the error of f, but for some reason my value is not working!!
o: .061
i: .239
error: .002
f: .0485
and I keep coming out with .00164 as the error but its not working. this is driving me crazzzzyyy, is there an error with the excel sheet or something, or is everyone getting it fine?

error of f
im using the excel sheet thats posted now and its STILL not working tho. my error of f is really driving me up a wall.
o: .061
i: .239
error for both: .002
f: .0485
all my values are in m, and i keep getting .0016411 and its not working no matter how i enter it. SOMEONE PLZ PUT ME OUTTA MY MISERY!!

Re: error of f
Use the error of (1/f) in the prelab and multiply that by f^2
error of f = sqrt(((.002/.061)*(1/.061))^2+((.002/.239)*(1/.239))^2)*.0485^2
error of f = .001267
error of f = sqrt(((.002/.061)*(1/.061))^2+((.002/.239)*(1/.239))^2)*.0485^2
error of f = .001267

errors of the magnification
how do u calculate the errors in above for the magnification?? please help! =) thanks!

re: errors of the magnification
error =SQRT((deltah_o/h_o)^2+(deltah_i/h_i)^2)*magnification calculated
make sure you put your error in as a positive value

Re: Lab 8 Execution
what do you have to put in the question where they ask you to say if your number is consistent or not? I'm using yes, no, consistent, etc, and they're all not working. help would be appreciated.
